What is -
x86 -
It is the general intel microprocessor architecture, just the processor you find on normal computers.
OSX -
Mac OS (Version 10), The OS you find on Apple computers.
OSX86 -
OSX installed on x86 machines.
Macintosh -
The original Apple computers were named Macintosh.
Hackintosh -
OSX86 installed machines are called Hackintosh.
BIOS -
The software which is present on your motherboard which starts initially when the computer is booted and it communicates with your operating system.
ACPI -
Advanced Configuration and Power Interface, manages the power system of the computer from the Operating System, Sleep/Hibernate comes under these.
RTC -
Real-Time Clock keeps the time of your computer even your computer is powered off.
SMC -
System Management Controller(SMC) is a subsystem in intel based apple computers which does the power management functions.
SMBIOS -
System Management BIOS defines system specification data structure which can be accessed by the Operating System.
DSDT-
DSDT (Differentiated System Description Table), is a table which gives information about your computer to the Operating System which are ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) complaint.
Chameleon -
A boot loader for hackintosh machines by Voodoo team. Can boot multiple Operating Systems and supports injections.
PC EFI -
Bootloader for hackintosh machines by famous russian hacker netkas.
kext -
Is is a loadable kernel module for OSX, it contains configuration files and drivers for the devices connected to the computer.
PLIST -
.plist is a property list file in OSX, which stores configuration settings.
FakeSMC.kext -
The kext used to mimic the functions of an actual SMC on Hackintosh machines, developed by netkas.
SMBIOS.plist -
The file used in Hackintosh machines to store the settings of an actual Apple Mac such as serial number, motherboard model etc to mimic an actual Mac machine to the OSX.
DSDT.aml -
The file used in Hackintosh machines to mimic the functions of the DSDT to the OSX.
